Open Studio Weekend in Gaucin!

we, a delegation from arteMijas, went to Gaucins Open Studio Weekend...... ah, what a lovely lovely day we had, blue skies, I did not have to drive, beautiful landscape and splendid art!
The drive up to Gaucin, is something else, we came via Manilva, so from below, so to speak, instead of over Ronda, so quite soon we started seeing Gaucin perched on top of it's cliff, white village pretty, as only Andalucia can do it..... stunning landscape with gorsy hills and orchards, running all the way out to the Mediterranean sea and the cliff of Gibraltar as a hazy landmark.
Gaucin itseld, is a typical little Spanish village, very sleepy, very quiet, and it was obvious that in the mid day heat, only us art hungry tourist were out and about.
Meeting artists like Nozomi Hatano with her wonderful aquatint etchings, and incredible studio, was just a pleasure, and I certainly hope to see her again, I am sure seeing her work, that we would have a lot to chat about!
Overall the artists are great, Jim Rattenbury is superb, Vivien Whiffen's photos wonderful, collages by
Vanessa Wilson, I'd have any of them on my wall..... Paddy Robinsons chock block of joy paintings.....
all a pleasure to see, and well worth the drive!
Home we went over Ronda, and it is, one of the most beautiful drives here, actually, for me, from Coin, all the way down to Algeciras, has for many many years been my favorite, and I think, will have to be repeated very soon, as a long weekend..... sketchbook in hand......
ArtGaucin.....I'll be back!

  3. Hi Mariann - are you still getting links to my blog???? I'm sorry it is happening. Just searched Blogger Help but it doesn't really give any solutions. I can only assume that there is a backlink somewhere in the system that kicks in every so often because I've not changed anything and I don't post a lot with Blogger now.
