I was next to the guy with imported handbags from Taiwan, oh yes..., amongst other stalls of similar stuff...... he looked with concern at my stall, full of etchings and linocuts and handmade cards etc, during the whole 10 days!! of not selling anything,
and gave me this piece of good advice when we parted ways on the last night
- "You should think about changing your product, Miss".
This has stayed with me all these years, and been cause for many a good laugh, and also some rather caustic remarks from other artists...... well, etsy, reminds me so much of this now.....which makes it pretty obvious.... time to walk away!
PS: the photo is only there cause I miss her!
XX Nancy... I was telling James about her the other day... And Pepita & Kit (wondering how Pepita was getting on).
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to sort out your Etsy frustrations. I do get irritated with some of the problems that are there, but in the end, I think it's worth sticking around and putting in a bit of work on my listings. I am making sales/ getting orders and it does work, despite the issues. Took me a while to learn about tweaking my listing titles, tags and descriptions, but I'm doing better now. Re-listing a couple of carefully chosen items from time to time also helps to keep them up there in front of peoples' eyes.
Hi Lizzie,
Deleteas always, full of good advice, thanks for all the handy tips, very appreciated....:o) Mariann
Lovely to meet you Mariann through your comment on my blog - so i've visited and loved what I have seen so far and will be back as i am now one of your followers - I am also in the process of getting to grips with Etsy so I know what you feel like - it all takes a lot longer than you think at the time and several hours later!!!!! see you again soon
ReplyDeleteThat's great Rosie, and like wise, sorry you caught me in a moan.....;o)
DeleteYou're a few steps ahead of me, Mariann! I know I need to figure out the whole search thing (and use better titles and tags) - not my favorite way to spend my time. That being said, what is the alternative to etsy? I can't find one that's any better, so I suppose I will HAVE to try and improve my etsy lot in life. lol! xox
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, I know, and hey, am as caught by the etsy bug as anyone else, just don't agree with having to "product tag"..... hope you are good, and that spring is around your corner!! xx Mariann
